What is considered as "for education purposes" when flying an unmanned aircraft (UA)?

According to Air Navigation (101 – Unmanned Aircraft Operations) Regulations, “education purposes” refers to any lecture, tutorial, seminar, demonstration, class or similar activity on UA offered or provided by an educational institution mentioned in section 45 of the Private Education Act 2009 to students enrolled in that education institution.

 

Examples of activities for education purposes include:

  1. A university conducting a course that involves flying of a UA for its enrolled students, as part of its full-time curriculum.

  2. A secondary school teacher flying a UA to demonstrate its capabilities to the students as part of co-curriculum activities.

  3. Students of a primary school showcasing their UA as part of a school event.

  4. Students of a university conducting UA flight tests as part of their final year projects.
