According to Air Navigation (101 – Unmanned Aircraft Operations) Regulations, “recreation purposes” refers to any pursuit or activity engaged in for enjoyment, relaxation or leisure, but not:

  • a sporting activity that forms part of an organised group activity or organised competition or tournament (such as a flying display);

  • a recreational activity provided by a business, or in the course of business.

Examples of activities for recreational purposes include:

  1. An individual flying a UA for fun.

  2. An individual flying a UA for aerial photography for personal collection.
