Updated by SLA We take the occurrences of bush fires seriously, and are working closely with the SCDF, NParks and our managing agents to minimise the risk of bush fires, especially in fire prone areas.We have stepped up our regular maintenance programme to clear the overgrown vegetation in these areas. This is being done in consultation with NParks as we are mindful of the need to preserve nature and greenery while minimizing fire risks.Measures are also being taken to remove disused farm structures that posed a fire risk and to create and/or deepen buffer zones such as dirt tracks to minimise the risk of spread of any bush fire in areas that are identified by SCDF.
We also wish to repeat SCDF's reminder to users of vacant state land that vegetation fires can be started and spread through the indiscriminate burning of unwanted items in open fields or vegetated areas, or if lighted materials such as matches or cigarette butts are carelessly disposed in these places.
