While such forested State Land is left in its natural form, SLA does inspect them at regular intervals for signs of potential mosquito-breeding, especially in water-bearing receptacles. Generally, Aedes mosquitoes that transmit Dengue are not found breeding on forested land. We have placed out a total of 4234-ha of frequently visited forested State land under our patrol agent. These sites are inspected twice per month and immediate actions will be taken to clear away discarded water-bearing receptacles left behind by inconsiderate people. However, to ensure that maintenance of State land is kept up, we would also need the cooperation of the public to not indiscriminately discard unwanted materials such as food containers, drink cans and other forms of water-bearing receptacles on vacant land which can lead to the breeding of mosquitoes.
