Why isn’t my passkey on Singpass synced across my devices?
You may be familiar with passkeys from services like Google or Apple, where your passkey is synced across your devices through your Google or Apple account.
Passkeys on Singpass are designed differently: your passkey is created and stored only on your device, and cannot be synced, backed up to the cloud, or transferred.
This is intentional. A synced passkey is only as secure as the account it is synced through – if that account is compromised, your passkey could be too. By keeping your passkey on a single device, it cannot be copied or accessed remotely, even if your cloud account or another device is compromised.
If you set up the Singpass app on a new device, you will need to create a new passkey. Additionally, your previous passkey will no longer work.
You can still log in using other Singpass methods (such as Singpass QR login ,Face Verification, or SMS One-Time Password) if needed.
