Why am I seeing this message?

The Singpass app does not work on devices with USB debugging or wireless debugging enabled, as these features can pose security risks.

What is USB or wireless debugging?

USB and wireless debugging are developer settings on Android devices for developers to test and debug Android applications. When these settings are enabled, a computer or network connected to the device can potentially access and modify data. Hence, for your security, access to Singpass app has been restricted.

To disable USB Debugging mode:

  1. USB debugging can be found in the device system settings under Developer options. You can find this option in one of the following locations, depending on your Android version:

    • Android 9 and higher: Settings > System > Advanced > Developer Options > USB debugging

    • Android 8.0.0 and Android 8.1.0: Settings > System > Developer Options > USB debugging

    • Android 7.1 and lower: Settings > Developer Options > USB debugging

  2. Tap the button to toggle developer options Off

  • Access to developer options is disabled and not visible on most devices until it is enabled on a different screen. If you do not see Developer Options under System, then developer options are disabled.

Still experiencing issues?

If you have turned off debugging but still see the error, try:

  • Restarting your device.

  • Checking for system updates.

  • Reinstalling the Singpass app.
