What are the signs of infection?

Updated by SGH-TRANSPLANTPEDIA
Fever or chills Feeling unwell or lethargic Cough, breathlessness, or chest pain Burning sensation or pain when passing urine Redness, swelling, or discharge from wounds New pain anywhere in the body 👉 Key message: If you notice any of these, seek medical advice early—infections can worsen quickly after transplant. Do note that because immunosuppressive drugs weaken the immune system, fever and redness may be absent or mild, even when an infection is present.
