A nasogastric (NG) tube is a flexible tube that goes through your nose, down your throat, and into your stomach. It's used to provide nutrition and medications when you cannot eat or drink safely by mouth. This might be needed if swallowing causes food or fluids to go into your lungs, or if your mouth or throat needs time to heal after surgery.
