How can I use "parentese" effectively with my preterm baby?

Updated by SGH-AHPEDIA
Parentese is an encouraging, higher-pitched, sing-song tone that's slower in tempo and captures your baby's attention. Use exaggerated facial expressions, be enthusiastic, and talk to your baby as if they can talk back to you. Take turns - after you speak, give your baby time to respond with cooing, smiling, or babbling, then take your turn again. This teaches the two-way nature of communication. Feel free to approach your paediatric feeding and communication speech therapists to find out more!
