When should I be concerned about my baby's breathing during feeding?
Seek immediate medical attention if your baby shows
1. Colour changes: Blue lips, tongue, or face during or after feeding.
2. Laboured breathing: Working hard to breathe, using chest muscles excessively.
3. Frequent choking: Not just occasional gagging, but consistent choking episodes.
4. Breathing stops: Any periods where breathing pauses during feeds.
5. Fast breathing: Consistently rapid breathing rate (over 60 breaths per minute in newborns).
6. Babies should be able to coordinate sucking, swallowing, and breathing smoothly during feeds.
