Minimalist vs maximalist footwear: which is better?

Updated by SGH-AHPEDIA

Minimalist shoes have a zero-to-low drop shoe (i.e., 0-6mm difference from the heel to the forefoot). Maximalist shoes have a higher drop shoe (i.e., 8-12mm difference from the heel to the forefoot). The choice between minimalist and maximalist is dependent on the type of sports/activities. For example, minimalist shoes are more tailored to gym workouts/court sports; as compared to maximalist shoes which are more suitable for running etc. As there are many brands and models for maximalist and minimalist shoes, consult a Podiatrist for advice on appropriate footwear.
