Can I stop my callus/ corn from forming permanently?
Calluses and corns form in areas of high pressure. Even short walks, such as from your bedroom to the living room, can generate enough pressure to contribute to their development. As long as you are walking, their formation cannot be completely stopped.
However, you can slow down the buildup by wearing supportive footwear, moisturising daily, and filing the skin regularly. The use of corn plasters is not recommended, as they carry a risk of acid burns. Similarly, using sharp objects to remove corns or calluses at home is strongly discouraged due to the potential for injury.
Podiatrists can assist by safely debriding calluses and enucleating corns using specialised medical instruments.
