Each breast compression lasts about 20 seconds per image. We take 2 standard images of each breast, so you'll experience compression 4 times total during your mammogram.

Why compression is necessary:

  • Spreads breast tissue for better visualisation

  • Helps detect potential abnormalities

  • Reduces radiation dose needed

  • Prevents blurring from movement"
