The actual X-ray takes only a few seconds, but your total appointment will typically last 10-15 minutes. This includes time for:

• Changing clothes if needed

• Positioning you correctly

• Taking the X-ray images (usually 1-3 different views)

• Checking the images are clear

More complex X-rays or multiple body parts may take a bit longer. If you have difficulty moving or positioning, the radiographer will take extra time to ensure you're comfortable.
