Mobility devices help to provide mobility and get you around. Examples include wheelchairs, pushchairs and motorised scooters.

Assistive Devices are equipment that help individuals with disabilities or limitations to perform their daily tasks more easily and safely. Common assistive devices include commodes, hospital beds and pressure relief mattresses.

Before applying for financial subsidy, an Occupational Therapist needs to assess your functions and needs to:

- Determine if a mobility and/or assistive device is suitable for you

- Recommend the most appropriate equipment

- Ensure safe and effective use of the equipment

- Check if you meet the clinical criteria and are assessed to have a medical need for the device

Not everyone may be eligible for mobility or assistive aids. Your Occupational Therapist will explain the clinical criteria and discuss alternative options if needed.

There are two main subsidy schemes available for various individuals.
