Is attending mediation mandatory before filing a Community Disputes Resolution Tribinals claim?
As at 1 June 2026, mediation is not mandatory but strongly encouraged. However, Parliament has passed legislation to introduce mandatory pre-filing mediation, and this requirement will take effect in due course.
