Can I postpone my sentence?

Updated by SGCOURTS

You have to start serving your sentence immediately after it is imposed on you. However, you may request the Court to postpone the commencement of your sentence. You should inform the Court immediately upon the pronouncement of the sentence if you wish to defer the sentence and provide valid reasons in support.

If you are on bail, your bailor must be present and consent to your request. The Prosecution may object or consent to your application to postpone the commencement of your sentence.

If your request for postponement is granted, there may be additional bail conditions imposed. You must surrender to the Court on the date and time directed by the Judge.
