What happens if I request for an adjournment during the hearing at the Mentions Courts?
At the hearing in the Mentions Courts, you may wish to request for an adjournment to for example engage a lawyer, make representations to the Prosecution, raise funds to pay any Court fine or settle personal affairs before pleading guilty.
You can apply to the Judge during the Court hearing.
If approved, you will receive a mention slip with the Court Number, Date, and Time of your next Court hearing. If the case is adjourned, the Judge will decide if you can be released on bail until the next hearing. If you are on bail, your existing bail may be extended or you may be offered Court bail.
