What are “rejection fees” and why do I have to pay them?
Incorrect/erroneous documents which are filed with the courts will be charged a rejection fee.
Starting from 15 October 2024, under the new Family Justice Rules, this rejection fee is set at S$10 per document for the 1st rejection, $25 for the 2nd rejection and $50 for the 3rd rejection. This is to discourage wastage of resources.
The following is an example of when a document may be rejected:
- Filing a copy of the deceased’s Will without the required certification on every page of the Will. (view the correct verification required here).
Users are hence strongly encouraged to check and review their documents prior to submission.
