While the Probate eService is made available without any additional costs, the usual Court document fees, processing fees, and transmission fees will still apply (collectively known as the “Filing Fees”). These are approximately S$300 and must be paid regardless of whether you:

a)      Engage a lawyer, or

b)      Physically file your application at the Service Bureau.

These filing fees exclude:

a) Any rejection fees which the courts may charge, for incorrect/erroneous filing of documents;

b) Fees payable to the Commissioner for Oaths (CFO) to swear or affirm affidavits;

c) Fees payable to a lawyer to obtain a certified true copy of the deceased’s will; and

d) Fees payable to a lawyer to obtain a certified true copy of the death certificate (if applicable).

When using the Probate eService, applicants will need to provide a deposit of S$400 upon filing their application. This S$400 is meant to cover the estimated Filing Fees. Any unutilised monies will be refunded after the application has been completed (please refer to the section in these FAQs on refunds).
