It was mentioned in the news that the Food Safety and Security Act allows each person to bring in a total of 15 kg of food across all categories for private consumption, is this in force yet? When will this be in force?

The revised private consumption policy under the Food Safety and Security Act (FSSA) streamlines existing rules to allow each individual to bring in a total of not more than 15 kg of various categories of food, provided none of the food is for use in a food business or for distribution.

The provision on private consumption is not yet in force today as the FSSA will be implemented in phases by 2028.  Therefore, SFA continues to remind the public that the existing rules around bringing food from overseas to Singapore will continue to apply. More details will be shared by SFA when ready.
