Updated by SFA

Businesses that import, export, or tranship food and food products regulated by SFA will need to apply for the necessary licences and permits. Prior to the application, please ensure you can meet the requirements for the goods that you want to import, export or tranship. For instance, if you are importing meat, the meat must be from approved sources. For an overview of the requirements, see Requirements for Licence / Permit / Registration for Import / Export.

Businesses can follow the following steps to apply for licence / permit / registration for Import and Export:

  • Step 1: Ensure your business is registered with ACRA

  • Step 2: Register and activate your TradeNet account with Singapore Customs

  • Step 3: Open and maintain a GIRO account with SFA

  • Step 4: Have your SingPass or CorpPass ready

  • Step 5: Ensure your food/food products meet the requirements

  • Step 6: Apply for the licences, registrations, and permits that you need

  • Step 7: Make payment

  • Step 8: Receive notifications via the GoBusiness portal.

Please note that Individuals or sole proprietorships must settle any CPF Medisave arrears before applying/registering. You will not be able to apply if there are outstanding CPF Medisave payments. For more detailed on application process, please refer to Application Process & Fees for Licence / Permit / Registration for Import / Export.
