Candidates are advised to follow the recommendations for the use of pencils and pens as outlined below, to avoid your answers appearing too faint and/or illegible during marking.

However, candidates would not be penalised if they use pencils or pens that do not follow the recommendations.

PSLE

Use a 0.5mm tip blue or black ballpoint pen when writing your answers. This reduces possible smudging and ensures that your writing is clear. If you need to change your answers after writing them with your pen, you should cross out the original answers neatly and rewrite them.

Use a sharp 2B pencil only when shading your Personalised Multiple Choice Answer Sheets (PMCAS) or drawing your diagrams.

GCE-Level examinations
