Will it be necessary to engage a Fire Safety Engineer to re-evaluate addition & alteration works to a performance-based designed building?

Where there are addition and alteration work in a performance based designed building, a Letter of No Objection must be submitted by the Qualified Person or Fire Safety Engineer (FSE) after determining that the proposed scope of works do not adversely affect the fire engineering studies that were previously carried out. The Letter of No Objection is to be submitted together with the building plan submission.

If the proposed scope of work affects the performance based fire safety measures (or fire engineering solution) that were previously approved by SCDF, a FSE must be engaged to re-evaluate the propose design to justify that all life safety and property objectives can still be met. Approval for the revised fire engineering solution must be obtained from SCDF prior to submission of building plans to SCDF.
