What should I do if I’ve accidentally given personal information to a potential scammer?

We understand how concerning it can be if you've accidentally shared personal information with a potential scammer. Don't worry, we’re here to guide you on what to do next.

 

1. File a police report if you feel unsafe or have lost money.

  • Please refer HERE for what to do if you've disclosed your bank details to a potential scammer. 

 

2. Submit a scam report on the ScamShield app.

  • Submitting a report via the ScamShield app helps us to escalate the suspicious phone number, message or website link directly to the relevant authorities for review and any necessary action. 

 

3. Monitor your accounts and documents: 

  • Watch for unauthorised transactions or suspicious loan applications in your bank accounts. 

  • Monitor personal accounts such as Singpass, email accounts, messaging accounts and social media accounts. Setup 2FA authentication where necessary. 

  • Be alert to unexpected communications from banks or government agencies. 

  • Change passwords for important accounts.

 

4. For Singpass related concerns:

  • You may contact the Singpass Helpdesk at +65 6335 3533 (Scam support  is available 24/7 - press "9" after dialling in)

     

5. For other leaked personal info:

 

Remember to keep all documentation related to this incident, including screenshots and correspondence. If you notice any suspicious activity on your bank or personal accounts, please contact the relevant service providers or authorities immediately.
