I think ScamShield is blocking calls from legitimate phone numbers on my iOS device. What do I do next?

If you are an iOS user and have not been able to receive calls, here are some steps to troubleshoot this issue:

  • Please check if your "Silence Unknown Callers" setting is switched on in your iOS device.

    • To do so, go to Settings > Phone, then scroll down, tap Silence Unknown Callers and turn off the feature.

    • Please note this is not a feature of the ScamShield app ❌ but an in-built iOS functionality. For more details, refer to this FAQ from Apple Support.

  • Is the incoming call showing up as a missed call in your call log? This call may be blocked by the ScamShield app. Find out if the phone number is blocked in our database by following these steps:

    • Launch ScamShield app > Check for Scams > Start Check > A number that called you > Phone call > Enter the phone number > Check.

    • If the check outcome is RED and says "Beware this looks like a scam", this phone number has been blocked. For any other outcomes, the phone number is not blocked as yet.

    • If you think the phone number is incorrectly blocked, please click on 'Contact Us' in the ScamShield app and provide us with a screenshot of this outcome. We will help you follow up with relevant authorities to review this request.
