I reported a scam message. Why was the sender not blocked immediately?
Reporting helps build the case against a scammer, but it does not block them from contacting you. To stop new messages right away, block the sender inside the app you received the message in.
SMS: press and hold the conversation in your messaging app, then tap Block. If you use Google Messages, see Google's instructions for more information. Steps are similar on Samsung Messages and other SMS apps.
WhatsApp: open the chat, tap the sender's name at the top, then scroll down and tap Block. See WhatsApp’s instructions for more information.
Telegram: open the chat, tap the sender's name at the top, tap the three-dot menu, then tap Block user.
Your report is checked by the authorities, and confirmed scam numbers are passed to the messaging platforms to act on. This takes time. Your report still helps, because it shows which numbers are being used for scams and protects others from the same one.
