What should I do if my late spouse, who is a foreigner (non-SC/non-PR), passed away while overseas? How do I update my marital status in Singpass?
If your late spouse was a Long-Term Pass holder (* Long-Term Pass holders include holders of Student’s Pass, Dependant’s Pass, Long-Term Visit Pass, and Work Pass) who passed away overseas, you should report the death to the Registry of Births and Deaths at the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA). Once the Registry issues an acknowledgement letter, your marital status will be updated automatically.
For more information, please visit www.ica.gov.sg (Home > Identity Cards > Passport and Other Documents > Report Death that Occurred Overseas).
If your late spouse, who is a foreigner (non-SC/non-PR) and was not a Long-Term Pass holder, you can submit an online application through the 'Our Marriage Journey' portal at https://www.marriage.gov.sg/marital-status-update under “For Spousal Death Update”.
