In the event that your Wali is not available (lost contact, bedridden, incarcerated or overseas), you are advised to come with your mother or your immediate next of kin e.g. brother, uncle, sister etc. to ROMM. You need to bring along the following documents for verification:
a. Valid NRIC or passport of bride-to-be's mother/next of kin
b. Incarceration visit card (if Wali is incarcerated)
c. Bride-to-be's birth certificate (if she has lost all contacts with her Wali)
A letter of consent and a letter of authorisation from the bride-to-be's Wali if he is abroad and is unable to be present for the registration and solemnisation due to extenuating circumstances. The letter of consent must be signed before a Commissioner for Oaths and the letter of authorization must be pronounced and signed in the presence of a religious official in the country where the Wali is residing.
