Can my child/ward choose not to join a CCA?

Updated by OPSS

The Singapore education system emphasises holistic education, and this is also what the school believes in strongly. It is therefore compulsory for all secondary school students to join a CCA. By not joining a CCA, a student loses out on many valuable opportunities to interact and network with his/her peers as well as to learn and experience life skills and knowledge beyond the classroom. In practical terms, there will also be an adverse effect on your child’s/ward’s eligibility for awards, bursaries, financial aid and other forms of school-related applications.
