What are the possible outcomes of the complaint?
Upon receiving a complaint, the OOB will review and decide on the following outcomes –
Dismiss if there are no merits;
Refer for a formal inquiry if necessary, which will be held by an inquiry committee as appointed by OOB; or
Mete out any one or more of the disciplinary measures to the registered optometrist or optician below
a. Censure;
b. Impose a penalty not exceeding $10,000;
c. Order that the registration be subject to such conditions as may be imposed by the Board for a period not exceeding 3 years;
d. Suspend registration for a period not exceeding 3 years;
e. Cancel registration.
