How is latent tuberculosis (TB) treated? How much does it cost?

Treatment of latent TB infection, when necessary, requires the patient to take an anti-TB drug, Rifampicin for 4 months or Isoniazid, for 6 months.
This will prevent the patient from developing active TB in the future. This is also known as “preventive treatment”.
If you are found to have latent TB infection following contact screening, you may be offered preventive treatment, which will be evaluated monthly by medical professionals at TB Contact Clinic (i.e. treatment progress, side effects and adjustment to medication dosage).
Medication to treat latent TB infection identified through contact screening will be provided free of charge at TB Contact Clinic.
