What document will I receive from the hospital or doctor who registered the death?

After a death or stillbirth has been certified, you'll receive 1 document from the hospital or doctor.

This can be any of the following:

  • National Electronic Health Record (NEHR) printout

  • Electronic Registration of Births and Deaths (eRBD) printout

  • Confirmation of Death (COD) or Confirmation of Stillbirth (COS)

If you received a Certificate of Cause of Death (CCOD), please contact ICA at Go.gov.sg or 6391 6100 for assistance.

If the death was certified outside of a hospital, you may receive a photo of the document instead of a printout.

No matter which document you receive, you should download the digital death or stillbirth certificate. You'll need it to arrange the cremation or burial, manage estate settlement, and more.
