Yes, the Donor needs to visit a Certificate Issuer in-person to certify the LPA. An LPA is an important legal document.

Visiting a certificate issuer in person helps us to make sure that you:

• understand the purpose of the LPA

• understand the powers you are granting your Donees

• are not under pressure to make the LPA

After your LPA has been certified, the certificate issuer will submit the LPA application to the Office of the Public Guardian on your behalf via OPGO.

Do note that your LPA must be submitted to OPG for registration within 6 months from the date of your LPA application. This includes obtaining your Donee's consent to be appointed and your LPA certification.
