Kafarah is a charitable compensation for intentionally violating obligations or oaths in Islam. It serves as a means of purifying oneself from mistakes or transgressions committed.

There are different types of kafarah, including kafarah jimak (expiation for sexual relations during fasting in Ramadan) and kafarah yamin (expiation for breaking an oath or vow/nazar). Each type of kafarah has specific requirements and amounts as prescribed by Islamic law. For kafarah jimak, the payment is equivalent to feeding 60 people, and for kafarah yamin (nazar) the payment is equivalent to feeding 10 people.
