I have been paying compounded rates over 5 years for the 15 years I missed fasting. Do I need to continue paying the compounded sum I calculated at the time I first started paying?
No, the fatwa views compound fidyah is no longer required. This consideration is guided by the principles of ease (al-taysīr) and avoidance of difficulty (rafʿ al-ḥaraj) which aim to remove all difficulties from Muslims. In line with Surah al-Haj: “And He (Allah ﷻ) has placed no burden in your religion.”
