When does the new fidyah/kafarah rate take effect, and how long is the transitional period?

The new $4.00 fidyah/kafarah rate officially takes effect from 1 Ramadan 1447H. The transitional arrangement allowing payment at $1.40 is available throughout Ramadan 1447H only. From 1 Syawal 1447H onwards, the $4.00 rate will be fully implemented across all MUIS and mosque platforms.
