Can I write a Wasiat to exclude any family member inheriting by Faraid?

It is not permissible for you to draft an Islamic Will (Wasiat) with the intention of excluding any family member from inheriting through Faraid.


According to section 111(1) of the AMLA, the intestate assets and belongings of all Muslims who live in Singapore, are distributed subject to the rules of Faraid (Islamic Law of Inheritance) If a Muslim individual writes a Wasiat, it must align with the principles of Faraid, which we have explained in the question, ""What are the conditions/requirements of a valid Wasiat?
