What is the importance of legacy planning and why I should contribute via wakaf for my legacy?

When planning our legacy, we may seek to leave a meaningful impact on society, which is encouraged in Islam through the concept of Sadaqah Jariyah or ongoing charity. One way to make a lasting contribution is through Wakaf, where cash, property, or assets are donated for pious, religious, or charitable causes. The ownership of the donated asset is transferred to Allah s.w.t., and it is solely for perpetual use to support the indicated causes.

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ mentions:

"When a man dies, his good deeds come to an end except for three things: Ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), beneficial knowledge and a righteous son who prays for him."
