Who are the beneficiaries for WMS?

WMS is an Islamic endowment fund created to sustainbly support the needs of the Singapore Muslim Community.


The beneficiaries of WMS are as follows,


a. Sustaining our Religious Institutions (More than $20 M)

Need for land lease renewals for mosques & madrasahs in the next 30 years.

Our mosques and madrasah currently lack sustainable long-term funding. In the next 30 years, many of them will face multiple, back-to-back land lease renewals estimated to cost more than $20 million. WMS will support theirlarge capital expenditures including land lease renewals, redevelopment and upgrading.


b. Developing our Asatizah (more than $250 M)

Needed to fund upcoming Singapore Islamic College & Asatizah sector development to remain relevant to contemporary needs

WMS will support the Committee of Future Asatizah’s (COFA) e_orts to develop, strengthen and professionalise our local Asatizah sector. More than $250 million will be needed in the next 30-50 years to fund the Singapore Islamic College and develop the sector to ensure that it remains relevant to contemporary needs, fulfil the aspirations of current and aspiring Islamic studies graduates, and nurture competent religious leaders.


c. Empowering our Community (More than $17 M)

Needed to support our community, particularly the vulnerable groups, in response to unexpected crises such as economic recession

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of dedicated community programmes to uplift individuals and families, particularly vulnerable groups, in response to unexpected crises. WMS will act as a reserve fund to support the community in times of need and provide long-term sustainable funding for regular socio-religious programmes.
