My child's Estimated Delivery Date (EDD) is on or after 1 April 2026 but was born before 1 April 2026. Will I be eligible for the new SPL or SPB?
Eligibility for Shared Parental Leave (SPL) and Shared Parental Leave Benefit (SPB) is determined based on the child's Estimated Delivery Date (EDD) rather than the actual date of birth. The applicable SPL entitlements are as follows:
1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026: 6 weeks of SPL
1 April 2026 onwards: 10 weeks of SPL
If your child's EDD falls on or after 1 April 2026 but was born before that date, you may still be eligible for the higher entitlement of 10 weeks. To determine your eligibility, please contact us via the form link in your acknowledgement email after completing your child's birth registration on LifeSG.
A doctor-certified EDD is required for eligibility assessment. Please provide a copy of the doctor's certification, which must include all of the following:
EDD
Mother's name and identification number
Name of clinic
Doctor's signature and/or Medical Registration (MCR) number
Supporting documents that do not meet the above requirements will not be accepted.
