If my spouse and I qualify for different schemes — one for SPL and one for SPB — how do we share the leave or benefits?

Updated by MSF

If one parent qualifies for Shared Parental Leave (SPL) and the other qualifies for Shared Parental Leave Benefit (SPB), the default arrangement is an equal split of 5 weeks each, for a total of 10 weeks.

For example, if you qualify for SPL and your spouse qualifies for SPB, your spouse can claim 5 weeks (35 days) of income under SPB, while you take 5 weeks of SPL.

You may also choose to reallocate the leave between yourselves based on what works best for your family. It is recommended that you update your preferred sharing arrangement on LifeSG within 4 weeks of your child's date of birth or your adoptive child's Formal Intent to Adopt (FIA) date.
