What are Government-Paid Maternity Benefit (GPMB), Government-Paid Paternity Benefit (GPPB), and Government-Paid Adoption Benefit (GPAB)?

GPMB, GPPB, and GPAB are government-paid benefits that support eligible working parents who do not qualify for their corresponding leave schemes due to their employment arrangements, such as being on short-term contracts or having contracts that expired before the birth or adoption of their child.

  • GPMB supports eligible working mothers, including self-employed mothers, who do not qualify for GPML.

  • GPPB supports eligible working fathers, including self-employed fathers, who do not qualify for GPPL.

  • GPAB supports eligible adoptive working mothers, including self-employed mothers, who do not qualify for Adoption Leave for Mothers (AL).
