As an hourly worker, what is my Government-Paid Childcare Leave (GPCL) or Extended Childcare Leave (ECL) entitlement?

Updated by MSF

As an hourly worker — including part-time, temporary, contract, or probationary employees — your GPCL or ECL entitlement is calculated on a pro-rated basis using the following formula:

GPCL Part-time Calculation

Example:

A part-time employee works an average of 4 hours a week, while a comparable full-time employee works an average of 8 hours a day and 44 hours a week. If the employee is entitled to 6 days of GPCL, their entitlement in hours would be calculated as follows:

(4 ÷ 44) × 6 × 8 = 4.4 hours
