What is the Shared Parental Leave (SPL) entitlement?

Updated by MSF

Shared Parental Leave (SPL) is a government-reimbursed leave scheme that allows parents to share parental leave between them. The entitlement depends on the child's date of birth:

  • Born on or after 1 April 2025: Up to 6 weeks of SPL.

  • Born on or after 1 April 2026: Up to 10 weeks of SPL.

All SPL is reimbursable or payable by the Government.
