When can a mother start using her Government-Paid Childcare Leave (GPCL) in relation to her Government-Paid Maternity Leave (GPML)?
It depends on how the mother is taking her GPML.
If GPML is taken as a continuous block, the mother can only begin using her GPCL after she has completed her full 16 weeks of GPML.
If GPML is taken non-continuously (i.e., flexibly, with mutual agreement with the employer), the mother may begin using her GPCL once the first 8 continuous weeks of GPML have been completed. In either case, the leave dates for GPML and GPCL must not overlap.
