Why is there an age cut-off for the Large Family LifeSG Credits?

Based on NPTD's 2021 Survey of Sentiments towards Marriage and Parenthood Benefits, as well as other public engagements, parents have shared that they would particularly appreciate financial support for the age range of 0 to 6 years. The Large Family LifeSG Credits are spaced out into annual disbursements over 6 years to provide large families with sustained support for household expenses, across their child(ren)'s early years.

We support families across different stages of their parenthood journey. As children grow older, families will continue to receive other forms of financial support under the Marriage and Parenthood Package, including Child Development Account Government co-matching, significant general education subsidies, parenthood tax benefits, as well as household-based financial support
