My child was born overseas and recently became a Singapore Citizen. Is he/she eligible for the Child Development Account First Step Grant and how much will he/she receive?
Children who subsequently obtain Singapore citizenship may receive the Large Families Scheme benefits if assessed to be eligible.
Depending on the child's age at the time of becoming a Singapore Citizen and if both parents were non-Singapore Citizens at the time of the child's birth, the Child Development Account (CDA) First Step Grant (FSG) will be pro-rated accordingly.
CDA FSG Pro-ration Schedule:

5 ≤ X < 6 years old | 3,000 | 6,000 |
6 ≤ X < 7 years old | 2,600 | 5,200 |
7 ≤ X < 8 years old | 2,200 | 4,400 |
8 ≤ X < 9 years old | 1,800 | 3,600 |
9 ≤ X < 10 years old | 1,400 | 2,800 |
10 ≤ X < 11 years old | 1,000 | 2,000 |

A child who had received pro-rated amount and is later adopted by Singapore Citizen parents (before age 12) will be reassessed during re-enrolment into the Baby Bonus Scheme. If this child is found to be eligible to the full amount, the adoptive mother/child (if mother is unable to receive) can receive the delta between the pro-rated amount and the full amount.
