Why are parents of stillborn children not eligible for Shared Parental Leave (SPL) and Shared Parental Leave Benefit (SPB)?

f your child was stillborn, you are not eligible for Shared Parental Leave (SPL) or Shared Parental Leave Benefit (SPB), as these are meant to support caregiving and bonding with your newborn. 

 

However, you are still eligible for 16 weeks of Government-Paid Maternity Leave or 2 weeks of Government-Paid Paternity Leave. These are provided to support you physically and emotionally during this difficult time.
