Adopted children are encouraged to approach their adoptive parents first for more information on their adoption. Adoptive parents may retain copies of the child’s birth records and consent for adoption from the biological parents, both of which must be submitted in (i) (for foreign children) their application for a Dependant’ Pass, and (ii) the adoption application to the Court.

Locally adopted children may also attempt to trace their biological parents through the Immigrations and Checkpoints Authority (ICA). You may contact ICA through their feedback form on their website.

Adoptive parents or adult adoptees can also apply to the Family Justice Courts (FJC) to access documents submitted to the Court in relation to the adoption application. You may refer to https://www.judiciary.gov.sg/services/civil-family-Court-records for more information.

While these means are available, biological parents must consent to being contacted by the Adoptee.
